Dog-Eaten Frenchwoman Gets First Face Transplant

Image

The first human face transplant was performed on November 27, 2005. Facial tissue from a brain-dead woman was grafted onto Isabelle Dinoire (above), a 37-year-old Frenchwoman whose own face had been mutilated by Tania, her black labrador mix.
